Economy & IR: Poland Calls for Stronger Strategic and Trade Ties with India
01 Oct 2026
Speaking at the G20 Trade Ministers’ Meeting, Polish Minister Andrzej Domański highlighted India as a global economic leader and emphasized strengthening the India-Poland Strategic Partnership (2024-2028) for greater economic predictability.
Speaking on the sidelines of the G20 Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Milwaukee, Polish Finance and Economy Minister Andrzej Domański called for stronger, more stable economic ties with India, describing the nation as a global economic leader and a vital long-term democratic partner for Poland and the European Union.
- Enhancing Economic Predictability: Minister Domański stressed that greater predictability and stability in economic relations are crucial in today's rapidly changing and volatile global environment.
- The India-EU-Poland Triangle: Warsaw expressed a strong desire for Poland, the wider European Union (EU), and India to become much closer trade partners, signaling Poland's intent to act as a catalyst for deeper India-EU economic integration.
- Strategic Partnership Framework: This push builds upon the momentum generated during PM Narendra Modi’s historic visit to Warsaw in August 2024, where bilateral ties were officially upgraded to a Strategic Partnership.
- Action Plan 2024–2028: Both nations are actively implementing a comprehensive five-year action plan that covers critical sectors including trade and investment, defence and security, advanced technology, and energy cooperation.
Poland's active outreach is highly strategic for India's foreign policy. As a heavyweight in Central and Eastern Europe, Poland offers Indian businesses a robust gateway into the broader EU market. Strengthening this relationship not only diversifies India's European partnerships beyond traditional allies like France and Germany but also secures resilient supply chains in a geopolitically fragmented world.
