(Context):

Polity & Culture: Linguistic Diversity is India’s Biggest Strength
📌 Context of the Address:
Delivering a video message on the occasion of Hindi Diwas, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the presence of multiple languages is India's biggest strength. He clarified that Hindi serves as an important connecting thread for national unity and is not in competition with any regional language.
🇮🇳 Key Highlights of the Address:
  • Decolonizing the Mindset: Mr. Shah stressed that language plays a vital role in shedding the colonial mindset. He cited the recent replacement of British-era laws with the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam as a re-establishment of national self-pride.
  • Technology & Indian Languages: Under the current government, Indian languages are witnessing a "golden period" of technological development, with Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools enabling seamless and easy translation across diverse regional languages.
  • NEP and Mother Tongue: Aligning with the New Education Policy (NEP 2020), he highlighted that core professional studies, including engineering and medicine, are increasingly being taught in multiple regional languages to place the mother tongue at the center of education.
  • Cultural Pride & Viksit Bharat: The Home Minister urged citizens, especially the youth and parents, to converse proudly in their mother tongue, linking linguistic pride to the broader journey of achieving a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).
🌍 Soft Power & National Integration

By positioning Hindi as an enabler rather than a competitor to regional languages, the government is reinforcing national integration. Furthermore, leveraging indigenous languages to promote Yoga, Ayurveda, and local culture globally enhances India's 'Soft Power' while ensuring inclusive domestic growth through vernacular education.
