केंद्र सरकार ने निर्णय लिया है कि 2027 की जनगणना में जातिगत गणना के लिए निश्चित OBC सूचियों के बजाय "ओपन-कॉलम" विधि का उपयोग किया जाएगा। सरकार के अनुसार, मौजूदा OBC सूचियां केवल "सामाजिक वर्गों" को दर्शाती हैं, न कि अलग-अलग एकल "जातियों" को।
