भारत और बेल्जियम ने रक्षा समझौतों पर किए हस्ताक्षर

सितंबर 2026 में भारत और बेल्जियम ने नई दिल्ली में द्विपक्षीय रक्षा और औद्योगिक सहयोग को बढ़ावा देने के लिए ऐतिहासिक समझौतों पर हस्ताक्षर किए। इसमें रक्षा उपकरण निर्माण, नौसैनिक सहयोग और द्विपक्षीय व्यापार को दोगुना करने का लक्ष्य रखा गया है।
नई दिल्ली में भारत के रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह और बेल्जियम के रक्षा मंत्री थियो फ्रैंकन की उपस्थिति में दोनों देशों ने रक्षा सहयोग पर लेटर ऑफ इंटेंट (LoI) सहित महत्वपूर्ण द्विपक्षीय रक्षा समझौतों पर हस्ताक्षर किए।
- रक्षा निर्माण एवं सह-उत्पादन: दोनों देश उन्नत तकनीकों, गोला-बारूद, माइन वारफेयर (Mine Warfare) और स्वदेशी रक्षा प्लेटफॉर्मों के घटकों के निर्माण में सहयोग बढ़ाने पर सहमत हुए।
- फास्ट-ट्रैक ट्रेड मैकेनिज्म: आगामी 5 वर्षों में भारत और बेल्जियम के बीच द्विपक्षीय व्यापार को दोगुना करने के लिए एक फास्ट-ट्रैक मैकेनिज्म स्थापित किया जाएगा।
- डिफेंस अटैच (Defence Attaché) की नियुक्ति: बेल्जियम नई दिल्ली में और भारत ब्रुसेल्स में स्थायी डिफेंस अटैच नियुक्त करेगा ताकि सैन्य संवाद को मजबूत किया जा सके।
- समुद्री सहयोग: बेल्जियम नौसेना का युद्धपोत LEOPOLD I भारत का दौरा करेगा और हिंद महासागर क्षेत्र में संयुक्त नौसैनिक अभ्यास में भाग लेगा।
यह समझौता भारत-बेल्जियम संबंधों में पारंपरिक हीरा व्यापार से आगे बढ़कर रक्षा आपूर्ति श्रृंखला, उन्नत तकनीक हस्तांतरण, आतंकवाद विरोधी सहयोग और हिंद-प्रशांत (Indo-Pacific) क्षेत्र में रणनीतिक साझेदारी को नया आयाम देता है।

India and Belgium signed key government-level defence pacts on September 3, 2026, focusing on joint defence equipment production, naval cooperation, and military exchanges. The agreement expands bilateral relations beyond traditional trade into strategic supply chain security.
During the high-level bilateral meeting between Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Belgian Defence Minister Theo Francken, India and Belgium signed three key government-level defence agreements, including a crucial Letter of Intent (LoI) on Defence Cooperation.
- Defence Industry Co-Production: Both nations agreed to boost joint defence manufacturing, with a focus on advanced technologies, ammunition, mine warfare, and component supply for indigenous defence platforms.
- Fast-Track Trade Mechanism: Establish a bilateral fast-track trade mechanism aimed at doubling overall two-way trade between India and Belgium over the next five years.
- Institutional Attaché Appointments: Belgium will appoint a resident Defence Attaché in New Delhi, while India will set up a dedicated Defence Attaché post in Brussels to strengthen military-to-military engagement.
- Strategic Maritime Cooperation: Scheduled deployment and visit of the Belgian Navy Frigate LEOPOLD I to India to conduct joint naval passage exercises in the Indian Ocean Region.
This partnership marks a significant shift in India-Belgium relations—expanding beyond traditional diamond trading into critical strategic areas such as defence supply chain resilience, technology transfer, counter-terrorism, and Indo-Pacific maritime security.
