राष्ट्रीय जैव विविधता प्राधिकरण (NBA) ने जैव विविधता संरक्षण को बढ़ावा देने के लिए सरसों के आनुवंशिक संसाधनों से प्राप्त 'पहुंच और लाभ साझाकरण' (ABS) आय के 15 करोड़ रुपये से अधिक विभिन्न राज्यों और केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों को जारी किए हैं।

राष्ट्रीय जैव विविधता प्राधिकरण (National Biodiversity Authority - NBA) ने सरसों के आनुवंशिक संसाधनों (Mustard Genetic Resources) से प्राप्त 'पहुंच और लाभ साझाकरण' (Access and Benefit Sharing - ABS) आय में 15 करोड़ रुपये से अधिक की राशि जारी की है। यह महत्वपूर्ण राशि देश भर के 26 राज्य जैव विविधता बोर्डों (State Biodiversity Boards) और 3 केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों की परिषदों को दी जाएगी।

- जैव विविधता अधिनियम, 2002: यह पहल 'जैव विविधता अधिनियम, 2002' के तहत NBA के चल रहे प्रयासों का एक मुख्य हिस्सा है। यह अधिनियम सुनिश्चित करता है कि जब भी भारत के जैविक और आनुवंशिक संसाधन वाणिज्यिक मूल्य (commercial value) पैदा करते हैं, तो उन लाभों का एक उचित और न्यायसंगत हिस्सा उन समुदायों और राज्यों को वापस मिले जो उस विविधता को बनाए रखते हैं।
- राष्ट्रव्यापी प्रभाव: पर्यावरण, वन और जलवायु परिवर्तन मंत्रालय (MoEFCC) के अनुसार, पिछले बारह महीनों में, NBA ने देश भर में लाभार्थियों को 116 करोड़ रुपये से अधिक की राशि जारी की है।

The National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) has released over ₹15 crore in Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) proceeds derived from Mustard Genetic Resources. This significant amount will flow directly to 26 State Biodiversity Boards and 3 Union Territory Biodiversity Councils across the country.

- Distribution Criteria: The ABS share distributed to the respective States and UTs has been calculated systematically based on the total area under mustard cultivation in each State.
- Biological Diversity Act, 2002: This release is a core part of the NBA’s ongoing mandate under the Biological Diversity Act, 2002. The Act ensures that whenever India’s biological and genetic resources create commercial value, a fair and equitable share of those benefits flows back to the communities and states sustaining that diversity.
- Massive Nationwide Impact: According to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), the NBA has been highly proactive. In the last twelve months alone, it has released over ₹116 crore to beneficiaries across India.
